Immediate loading with digital prosthesis 

                                   The conventional procedure for implant placement involves extraction of an offending tooth, waiting 2–4 months for extraction socket to heal, insertion of the implant, and again waiting for 3–6 months for integration of the implant with the surrounding bone.

                                After this procedure, another surgery is necessary to expose the implant and place a prosthetic abutment. Considering the prosthetic treatment, the patient had to wait up to 8–12 months for a lost tooth to be replaced. 

                               Because of these shortcomings related to the conventional technique, strategies were developed to substantially shorten the entire treatment by placing the implant immediately after extraction of tooth followed by immediate loading of implant with prosthesis. 

                             The concept of immediate implant loading includes all of the advantages of a one-stage surgical approach. Also, during the osseointegration process, the patient does not have to use a removable denture, which increases function, speech, stability and comfort.

                           Today, more and more patients prefer immediate load implants because of the following advantages. Shorter treatment time and significantly reduced time (if any) spent with a gap in the dentition since the aesthetic restorations are provided on the day of surgery and ultimately results in high patient satisfaction.

                         Immediate loading reduces the need for surgical intervention and complex bone grafting procedures that might otherwise be required to restore resorbed ridges. The one-stage technique offers a simplified surgical workflow and subjects the patient to one surgery instead of two. 

                       Improvements in patients’ post-operative experience following flapless approaches for single-tooth rehabilitation have been reported. Successful cases of the immediate loading protocol have also been reported for multiple implant placements. 

                        With close collaboration between oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and lab technicians, immediate implant placement and immediate loading can provide a unique selling proposition (USP).          

                       This can form an integral part of a marketing strategy, ensuring the practice is more attractive than the practitioner who offers a conventional implant procedure.

Why should upcoming oral surgeons should learn about third molar removal? 

Introduction 

                           Third molar removal is a surgical procedure to remove one or more wisdom teeth — the four permanent adult teeth located at the back corners of your mouth on the top and bottom. If a wisdom tooth doesn't have room to grow (impacted wisdom tooth), resulting in pain, infection or other dental problems, you'll likely need to have it pulled.
